    "A mother's welcome" and "An Orphan's Hope" are part of "Rockwell's American Dream". The plates are made in fine Knowles china. The plates are 8.25 inches in diameter. Authentication stamps, plate numbers and other related information are on the back of both plates. (see photos) The original paintings were completed by Rockwell in 1951 and these plates were rendered in 1986. The history of the orphan trains in America are bittersweet and in reality, had a mixture of outcomes for the children and the new parents. These plates illustrate the hoped for outcome which is a loving family. The ability of Norman Rockwell to evoke emotions and his technical prowess in his artwork is iconic Mid Century Americana. This pair of gorgeous plates are in excellent pre-owned condition.
